ABOUT ME

I'm Sarah Darken, the passionate advocate and founder of SEND My Way!

As the founder of Send My Way, I've experienced firsthand the frustrations and hurdles that can arise when seeking support and accommodations for individuals with SEND. With a deep understanding of both the educational system and the unique needs of children and young people, I'm committed to empowering parents and carers like you to effectively advocate for your loved ones.

My journey with advocacy started years ago, fuelled by my own experiences advocating for my neurodivergent family. My special interest then became learning about the laws surrounding special educational needs and disabilities in England, driven by a desire to support families facing similar challenges. Having walked the path myself, I know first hand the weight it places on families who often navigate the system alone. That's why I dedicated myself to gaining the knowledge and expertise needed to advocate for my own children and others like them.

Beyond my personal journey, I've had the privilege of supporting numerous families at various stages of their own journeys. During a period when I couldn't work due to my child's education needs, I volunteer weekly on an advice line for a charity providing free, independent, legally based information and support for parents dealing with special educational needs. I have even represented families in tribunal cases for this charity, all while undergoing additional legal training to stay up to date with knowledge of the complex system.

Most recently, I achieved success in my second tribunal for my own child, who was struggling to access education. We successfully appealed the contents and setting of his EHCP, securing a tailored package of Education Other Than in School (EOTIS).

Alongside offering legal signposting and next-step advice, my utmost priority is ensuring you feel fully supported and empowered. I'm committed to advocating for the best possible outcomes for you and your child or young person.
